Jammer is in a JAM!

A friend, Izelda, has been a horse lover for many years. She was asked to take a lame horse. She found a home as a companion for Jammer but the new home needs a bit more time to get ready for him. Izelda asked if I could take him for a short time until he could go to his new permanent home. Of course, I agreed to put him in our pasture.

Izelda had never met Jammer but she was willing to help anyway. When she arrived at the farm Jammer was living, he was being ridden. The rider had spurs and told Izelda that Jammer was lazy so spurs were needed to make him ride. Sweet Jammer tried his best to do what his rider asked but he couldn't do it. Jammer has a serious leg injury and is in severe pain. Izelda took him away as quickly as she could as she held back the tears she wanted to shed for this poor horse. He may have a broken leg. The vet is coming out on Friday to take a look but it doesn't look good. His leg is enlarged and the anti-inflammatory medicines are not helping at all. He is 3 legged and in so much pain. What would anyone ride a horse in this condition????

Jammer is surely in a jam. He may be able to be treated but it is an old injury so it doesn't look good. We may have to do the humane thing for Jammer. We will do the right thing once it is determined what is wrong and if anything can be done to relieve his pain. He is such a sweet horse. He is in loving hands right now and we are very thankful for that. No matter what time he has left, he will never be mistreated and he will get all the love and horse treats he can handle. Please say a prayer for Jammer tonight, he needs us all.

I would love to have the name and contact information for the person who tried riding him in this condition. She should be prosecuted for cruelty. This is absolutely heartbreaking. I am saying my prayers for this poor baby.

The person that was riding him is an idiot!!!! & using spurs???!!!!! Anybody with half a brain would know not to even think of getting on a horse with a leg injury. Jammer looks like such a sweet horse, so sad this happened to him.

This mad me cry. This poor boy was mistreated by such a sick person. He didn't deserve this and tried to do what he could. I will pray for him and hope he can be saved. What can we do to prosecute this person that abused him?

Horses hide so much pain from us...to protect themselves. For Jammer to be clearly in this much pain...breaks my heart. I know you will do what you can for him Cheryl. Thank you.

Jammer is peacefully resting in his nice & comfy stall tonight, it's so sad and heart breaking to see such a sweet boy in such a bad situation yet nothing stops him from giving a sweet nicker each time he hears my voice, tonight may be his last night here with us........ Which is sooo sad, such an innocent soul just doesn't deserve what happened to him. It's heart breaking thinking about what the outcome might be tomorrow, but I try to put myself at ease that this guy is in tremendous amount of pain and we need to take in consideration what would be the best quality of lifestyle for him, pain free, comfortable and not suffering going forward. It breaks my heart that people can be so ignorant sometimes to have something like this happen to such a sweet, sweet soul. I just want to take a moment and give a big "Thank You!" to everyone that's helped out w Jammer so far, the Vick's for opening their hearts and pasture to this boy to offer him a loving home, Karen and Tammi for allowing me to keep him on their property for the time being, Michelle, Abby, Caroline and Michael for helping covering feedings, giving the horses plenty of love, attention, sugar cubes, carrots and apples...and then also Scott - a sweet guy I just met recently who is new to the whole "horsey world" thing for all his support, helping hands, and spending anytime possible loving on the horses, last but not least.... Cheryl, for your willingness to always help, no matter the situation :) Jammer and I appreciate all the help, thanks everyone!
